responsibility as mother,” he says.
“Then Ansara took Trishelle and went home. In the
meantime, Trishelle’s family members all arrived to
witness the baptism of their granddaughter and great
granddaughter in the Catholic Church. I was wondering
why Ansara had not returned, but then I realised that
our little princess needed some time to be dressed up
properly, including a hair band.
“During the Mass, I looked at the people sitting there with
beautiful and gentle smiles. It was a wonderful occasion.”
Fr Bosco says that as more people become aware of the
regular Mass being held he receives more inquiries about
the possibilities of having First Communion, Reconciliation
and Confirmations celebrated in Titjikala.
He says the most important aspect of his ministry at
Titjikala is building relationships with the people there.
“It is not too important a matter for me how many people I
have baptised in the Catholic Church and how far I travel to
meet people,” he says.
“Sometimes, as a young missionary, I might have felt eager
to baptise as many as possible and to do some special
things so that I may become a great missionary, with tales
of bravery.
“However, it is people like Sophie, the health worker at
Titjikala, who inspire me. Sophie is a true missionary, who
really proclaims the word of God and shows God’s love to
others at Titjikala. All of us are missionaries, but each of us
has different ways of doing this.”
Fr Bosco says he has come to realise over the course of his
missionary life that he is not a harvester, but a sower.
“In other words, I do not have to be concerned with the
harvest. Simply, my role and job is to go on searching for
soil and sowing the good seed. The person in charge of the
harvest is God.”
Financial Distribution for
Overseas Mission projects
2013-14
The generosity of our benefactors, our Mission Partners,
continues to provide much-needed funds for distribution
to our SVD ministries in overseas countries.
As you can see from the chart, in the past financial year,
the Mission Office of the SVD AUS Province has directed
funds to a range of countries around the world.
A large proportion of funds in the past year has been
directed to India, where the need is very great. You will
see also that through the generosity of so many people,
we were able to direct a substantial proportion of funding
to the Philippines to assist the communities which were
devastated by the impact of Typhoon Haiyan.
The Divine Word Missionaries appreciate your ongoing
support, however small or large, and give thanks to God
for you, our partners in Mission, and we pray for God’s
blessing upon you.
