'A History of Yobai in Pictures' - Book Launch

Fr Ennios Book Yobai in Pictures 350Fr Ennio Mantovani SVD has launched his latest book - A History of Yobai in Pictures.

The book gives a pictorial history of Fr Ennio's many years as a missionary in Yobai, Papua New Guinea. Arriving in 1965, at the same time as the Second Vatican Council was encouraging the Church to go out into the world, Fr Ennio lived his missionary life in the belief that mission needs to be carried out in dialogue with the people and their culture.

At the launch of the book, SVD Australia Province Mission Secretary, Fr Viet Nguyen SVD said: "This is a very valuable book for generations to come".

Fr Ennio has asked that the proceeds from the sale of the book be donated to the SVD's overseas missions.

A History of Yobai in Pictures is available for $20 from the SVD office in Marsfield. Fr Ennio also recently published a written account of his missionary life, entitled Sixty Years of Priestly and Missionary Life: The History of a Journey - a reflection on his priestly and missionary life and on the changes that took place in the understanding of both the priesthood and the missions. It is available for $10 per copy. Or, both books can be bought together for $25.

In the spirit of reconciliation, the Society of the Divine Word, Australia Province, acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea, sky, and community.

We acknowledge their skin-groups, story-lines, traditions, religiosity and living cultures.

We pay respect to their elders, past, present, and emerging, and extend that respect to all indigenous peoples of New Zealand, Thailand, and Myanmar.

We are committed to building with them, a brighter future together.
